As a reminder to those who may not have heard, on Friday, May 1st the Caltech bookstore is closing. (Or at least the book selling portion of it.)

As of this morning they still have a HUGE selection of math, physics, astronomy, biology/genetics, chemistry, engineering, economics and computer texts left. If you’ve been there and know their layout, they’ve still got just more than half their original stock. If you haven’t been, imagine the math and science sections at UCLA & USC combined and double it and it’ll give you an idea of how much stock they’ve got left (or alternately multiply the math/science section at your average Borders or Barnes & Noble by about 25 and with a much greater selection of material). Even better, all of their books are 40% off…

Lots of their remaining stock is on the more highly technical side and is generally material you won’t find in any other bookstore, so it’s a great place to browse through things in person which you might otherwise have to buy online but not have the chance to look at before you purchase. It’s also a good time to stock up on things you’ve always wanted, but didn’t want to spend a lot of money on. Plan on spending some time though, as I easily spent over an hour and a half this morning browsing (rather hurriedly) through what they’ve got left.

Hope you find something useful there. Good seeing everyone last night.
